Type MC (Metal-Clad) Cable is a factory-assembled cable featuring insulated conductors enclosed in a flexible, spiraling interlocked metal armor — typically aluminum or galvanized steel. This construction provides superior mechanical protection, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and eliminates the need for separate conduit in many commercial and industrial installations.

MC cable is permitted for use in nearly all commercial and industrial environments, including cable trays, direct burial (when jacketed), and exposed or concealed locations.
