XHHW-2 copper wire features cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) thermoset insulation, delivering superior performance in the most demanding industrial environments. Unlike thermoplastic insulations, the cross-linked molecular structure provides exceptional resistance to heat deformation, chemical exposure, and mechanical stress.
Rated at 90°C in both wet and dry locations at 600V, XHHW-2 maintains its full ampacity rating regardless of installation environment — a significant advantage over THHN/THWN-2 in wet applications. This makes it the preferred choice for underground feeders, cable tray installations, and chemical processing facilities.
